Today, user groups were, with huge regret, given 2 weeks notice by the Woodmancote Village Hall CIO and the old unincorporated charity trustees.
The critical element of avoiding this was for Woodmancote Parish Council to provide a formal legal waiver to release the Charities and its trustees, in the capacity as the tenant, from the legal obligations at the end of the lease.
With only vague promises from Woodmancote Parish Council who have publicly stated that they wanted to continue operating the hall thereafter and would ensure a smooth transition, the legal waiver has not been provided, Therefore all equipment and additions in the hall need to be removed to give vacant possession on 31st October 2026.
All bookings from 15th September 2025 have now been cancelled.
Trustees have tried everything to avoid this outcome and it’s possible that this path can still be avoided as long as Woodmancote Parish Council finally take responsibility for the decision they have made and deliver what is necessary to achieve the smooth transition that they are saying they have promised.
